Transport Options

While many of our guests will travel by car, it is possible to come using public transport but that will take a little planning! Below are links to all the main transport providers; it is well worth checking details before you travel, and often you can get cheaper fares if you book in advance.

By Train. The train service from Glasgow Queen Street Station goes via Crianlarich to Oban. There are 6 trains a day connecting Glasgow with Oban. There are many trains a day that go from Edinburgh's Waverley and Haymarket stations to Glasgow. Timetables for the line are available online from ScotRail (www.scotrail.co.uk).

By Car. When travelling by car it is worth bearing in mind that the roads in the west of Scotland are slower than you may be used to and allow plenty of time for your journey. Expect to take around 3 hours from Glasgow to Seil, and 3.5 hours from Edinburgh to Seil.

By Coach. Citylink runs a service from Edinburgh via Glasgow to Oban that runs up to 7 times a day. Timetables and fares are available on the Citylink website (www.citylink.co.uk)

By Air. Glasgow and Edinburgh airports are well served by flights from throughout the UK and further afield. Both are easy to reach and are approximately 2.5 to 3 hours from Seil by car. Info about flights is available on the airports' respective websites
(www.glasgowairport.com www.edinburghairport.com).

Car Hire. If you would like to come by public transport, but hire a car while you are here, the options are either to use one of the major hire companies in Glasgow or Edinburgh or to hire a car from Oban. The Oban companies that offer car hire are Hazelbank Motors (www.obancarhire.co.uk) and Flit (www.flitselfdrive.co.uk).
